About Us

How it all began

Bob had a problem as there were no activities for his kids in the local area

Mary, had the same problem, there was nothing for her kids to do in her area.

Bob and Mary met up and talked about what they could do

They agreed to set up a parents forum to discuss the problem

They worked with KCVS to help them set up an organisation to help the parents forum

We received funding to create activities for children

Bob and Mary's children grew up and went away to University so they stopped being involved in Family Voices.

Now we have a new group of trustees and are rebuilding our activities for Children across Knowsley.

Nicola Burns

Hi I am Nicola Burns, I am currently a one to one personal assistant for a young adult with complex physical and learning needs.
My experiences include 10 years working in a private day nursery where I was a manager for 5 years. I was in charge of the day to day running of the nursery, HR, finance, amongst other things. I spent over 2 years working and volunteering with Family Voices – Family Choices as an Early Years and Outreach Co-ordinator; I planned universal services and delivered early years sessions. I gained a lot of training from Family Voices – Family Choices including; Infant Massage Certificate and Paediatric First Aid – Train the Trainer Certificate.

Why you are involved with FV?

As a parent I have personally benefited from the groups that Family Voices – Family Choices provided for families and their children. Family Voices – Family Choices also helped me back into working after being made redundant. I want to help the charity to develop further.

I love spending time with my two young children at the park the beach and going for walks. I also love to spend time with my friends and family and also going to the gym.
